WHO–ICRC Basic Emergency Course

Introduction  

BEC is a program developed by WHO and ICRC and is certified by the International Federation of Emergency Medicine (IFEM). This 4-day course focuses on the provision of emergency care by doctors and nurses working in low-resource areas.

  • Mode of Education: Online and hands-on (Hybrid)
  • Classes in a Week: Total 4 days course
  • Duration of Class: 8 hours/day

Program Objectives

This course is geared towards capacity building of healthcare providers in providing organized standard care for common emergency situations while focusing on the ABCDE approach in the local context and available resources.

Scope of Practice

Doctors and nurses who are working in places where they are likely to encounter patients with emergency presentations. This Course has been conducted in Lahore, Muzaffarabad, Badin and Karachi campuses as well as at the Karachi Airport for training of Civil Aviation personnel.
