Collaborative Advance Trauma Course
Introduction
This inter-professional multi-disciplinary course is offered in collaboration with Emory University/Grady Hospital, Atlanta, USA. It is designed for the development of trauma management skills and collaboration among all healthcare professionals who are involved in the care of trauma patients.
It is a hybrid course, with pre-reading materials and videos shared online and a three-day in-person component that includes skill stations and simulations.
Program Details
- Duration: Online asynchronous with 3 days in-person, additionally 1 day of ToT (preceded by online asynchronous pre-reading materials and videos)
- Mode of Education: Hybrid, (online and in-person didactics, in-person simulations, in-situ mass casualty incident simulation)
- Classes in a Week: 3-day in-person course. (+/- 1 day for ToT)
- Duration of Class: 8 hours/day
- Timing: 9am – 9pm
- Examination: Post-test

Teaching Methodologies
Google Classroom, Simple (monitor) App, Resus Monitor App, Moulage Kit and task trainers for simulations.
Program Objectives
To develop collaborative management protocols where all nurses and doctors from different specialties involved in the management of trauma patients work together in harmony to provide high-quality care to the patient.
Scope of Practice
All nurses and doctors of all specialties who are involved in taking care of trauma patients in the emergency department. Specialties include Emergency Medicine, Surgery and Allied, and Anesthesia.

Eligibility Criteria
Doctor or nurse who is currently working in a position where they need to take care of trauma patients, nominated by their institute/department.
Who Can Apply
Institutions can apply and nominate their participants which have to be a mixture of nurses and doctors.
Qualification
Registered as a physician/nurse with the local authority.
Key Dates
- Tentative Start Month: Conducted twice or thrice a year, depending on the request and availability.
- The inviting institute has to arrange logistics and travel.

These videos have accompanying skills videos, which are referenced throughout the lectures and can be found in the skills video folder. Please also review the content of this folder prior to the in-person coursework.
The in-person CATC course will take place over 3 days with an extra day for completion of the training of the trainer’s course. CATC includes a very brief review of the highlights of the trauma patient assessment, and then skills, team building, simulations and mock activations. It will be very fast-paced, so please come prepared after reviewing all video and lecture content! If you have not done the preparatory work, you will be behind.
