Addressing Exam Anxiety: Promoting Mental Health Awareness at Indus University of Health Sciences

Indus University of Health Sciences (IUHS) recently organized a session titled “From Panic to Peace: Breaking the Cycle of Exam Anxiety,” aimed at promoting mental health awareness among students. The session focused on addressing the growing issue of exam anxiety and provided practical strategies to help students manage stress.

The session explored the common causes of exam anxiety, including high self-expectations, fear of failure, lack of preparation, negative self-talk, and past academic challenges. It emphasized how these pressures particularly affect medical students, leading to reduced academic performance, compromised mental health, and, potentially, an impact on patient care.

Students were offered valuable techniques to manage their stress, such as developing healthy study habits, practicing mindfulness, and engaging in positive self-talk. Recognizing anxiety early and addressing it was highlighted as key to maintaining both academic success and overall well-being.

The session concluded with a guided mindfulness meditation, offering students a practical tool to reduce stress and regain focus. IUHS continues to prioritize student mental health and remains committed to helping students navigate academic pressures with a balanced, healthy approach.
