Public Health has an important role in improving the quality of life of the nation. It is the backbone of primary health care and essential to achieving the Universal Health Coverage goals laid down by the United Nations.

Public and private sector health set-ups, including non-governmental organizations, need a skilled human workforce for public health programs to improve the health of communities. To overcome the increasing demand for qualified public health professionals, Indus College of Family Medicine and Public Health has launched a Bachelor of Science in Public health (BSPH) affiliated with Jinnah Sindh Medical University.

BSPH OVERVIEW

A Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health (BSPH) is an undergraduate degree that prepares you to enter the public health workforce and take on various jobs under the public health umbrella. The focus is on disease prevention, health promotion, and protection of the community through education, as a policy maker, or as an advocate.

The BSPH is a four-year (08-semester) degree program comprising 40 core courses & 4 elective courses with a total of 133 credit hours to be completed in eight semesters. The students will be working on different public health projects with the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization at IHHN to enhance their administration, organization, and research skills. Classes will be conducted in Hunar Foundation Korangi, and students will also gain experience working at various primary care and community health set-ups of Indus Hospital and Health Network.

GOAL OF THE BSPH PROGRAM

The BSPH program aims to improve the health status of communities by enhancing the quality of the public health workforce. This would be achieved through teaching and training to produce competent public health professionals.

OBJECTIVES OF THE BSPH PROGRAM

  1. Produce competent, committed and skilled public health professionals.
  2. Provide a foundation for choosing a relevant Track in Public Health in the future.
  3. Prepare skilled workforce in public health auxiliary and support services
  4. Prepare leadership in public health.
  5. Participate directly in efforts to improve the health of the community using community-based approaches.
  6. Conduct basic and applied research relevant to the description, risk factors, and interventions for the resolution of health problems in human populations

ADMISSION CRITERIA

1) Intermediate (Pre-Medical or Pre-Engineering) or Faculty of Arts or A-levels with a minimum of 50%.
2) Age limit: 18-35 years.
3) Domicile of Sindh/Karachi is mandatory.

  • Photocopy of Intermediate (Pre-medical/ Pre Engineering or Arts) certificate & mark sheet
  • Photocopy of Matric Science certificate & mark sheet
  • Passport size photograph
  • Paid challan voucher of 1500pkr (non-refundable)
  • A certificate of an affidavit, declaration, with statement to abide by the rules and regulations of admission.

No, you can’t update information once form is submitted.

You can upload your document online during submission of form admission form, later you need to submit hardcopy of your documents.

Before filling the online admission form, applicants will get their fee deposit slip/challan from the portal. The application processing fee is to be paid through this challan which is acceptable at all branches of Habib Bank Limited throughout Pakistan via cash/pay order/demand draft, the paid deposit slip of the bank along with all documents are to be uploaded on online portal.
